Title: Empire of the Summer Moon Pdf Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History

Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

Although listeners may be more familiar with the names Apache and Sioux, it was in fact the legendary fighting ability of the Comanches that determined just how and when the American West opened up. They were so masterful at war and so skillful with their arrows and lances that they stopped the northern drive of colonial Spain from Mexico and halted the French expansion westward from Louisiana. White settlers arriving in Texas from the Eastern United States were surprised to find the frontier being rolled backward by Comanches incensed by the invasion of their tribal lands. So effective were the Comanches that they forced the creation of the Texas Rangers and account for the advent of the new weapon specifically designed to fight them: the six-gun.

The war with the Comanches lasted four decades, in effect holding up the development of the new American nation. Gwynne's exhilarating account delivers a sweeping narrative that encompasses Spanish colonialism, the Civil War, the destruction of the buffalo herds, and the arrival of the railroads - a historical feast for anyone interested in how the United States came into being.

My best friend growing up was the great-granddaughter of Chief Quannah ... We live in Oklahoma - the middle of modern day Comanche County. My best friend growing up was the great-granddaughter of Chief Quannah Parker. She was even named after Cynthia Ann Parker. She has been my friend for over 60+ years. Therefore, I knew some of the history of the Comanche way of life, but from their side. I still cherish those memories of the stories told to me by her Grandmother (which was really her great-aunt, but called Grandmother by Comanche culture). She told of how afraid of the soldiers they were as children on the reservation near Fort Sill. I was a child hearing these stories, not really understanding... My family (white settlers) had settled in Oklahoma Territory from the Llano, Texas area before the turn of the century. They had lived thru the battles and loss of lives. Some went on to Arizona, but that's another story.EMPIRE OF THE SUMMER MOON really awakened some of those memories - but from both sides. It was a horrible time for the settlers and the Indians! I have read many books on the subject, but this was the BEST, most accurate account, from both sides. It gives true documentation of events as they happened. We have given this book to so many family members and friends. A few weeks ago, we gave it to a Comanche friend. He said he learned so much about his people from this book. We HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone wanting to know the true history of the west from both sides.Culture Clashes My only complaint about this book is redundancy. That said, I couldn't put this down. It invaded my thoughts and dreams. There is such a deep sadness about this chapter if American History and this book just crystallized the impossible situation.I live in the area of Texas and Oklahoma covered in the book. I have family papers used by relatives three generations ago to establish Indian connections for the purpose of personal gain. I have visited the forts and parks, missions, and roadside historical signs related to this time period. This book helped me put the pieces together. If you think one group is all bad and the other all good, you will hate this book. If you want to take a hard look at what happens when cultures clash, this book tackles the subject in a compelling and interesting way.PC History This book was a good example of socialist History. The author has taken a subject and told the story through a leftist prism. Lot's of words and time is spent pretending the Comanches were something they were not...a functioning nation with political and cultural ties among tribes. The 'author' goes to great lengths to revise the History of the plains Indians and particularly the Comanches. It's all well and good if you have been through the indoctrination camps that pass for higher education in this country. However, if you are looking for a factual account without a leftist narrative this book isn't a good choice.

Title: Full Circle Pdf From Hollywood to Real Life and Back Again
Author: Andrea Barber
Published Date: 2019-11-12
Page: 272

Praise for FULL CIRCLE   “I literally grew up with Andrea—in front of and behind the camera. Her memoir perfectly captures the funny, smart, inspiring, raw, and honest heart of my dearest friend. “—Candace Cameron Bure   “I could not be more proud of my friend and fellow ‘She-Wolf.’ She is truly one of the most genuine, loving people I know. Her struggles with anxiety and depression, and how she broke through, are so incredibly relatable. As someone who has fought those demons myself, I found her candor both poignant and funny. A great read from a multi-talented actress, author and comedienne! The millions of fans who love her will not be disappointed!” —Jodie Sweetin   “Andrea is brave, open, and so very human.  In between the laughter, her memoir highlights her imperfections and struggles, and her journey to acceptance. Her fans will find stories about their favorite girl-next-door, and everyone will be inspired to embrace their uniqueness and keep looking forward with humor and strength.”—Tan France, Queer Eye and author of Naturally Tan   “Andrea Barber writes with equal parts humor and raw honesty. Her willingness to share her struggles along with her joys makes her incredibly relatable. Tackling motherhood, divorce, mental illness, careers, aging, and everything in between, makes Full Circle a perfect read for anyone navigating their own troubles. This book makes you realize you are not alone and that there are many bright days ahead. It leaves the reader with hope.”—Kara Goucher, Two-Time Olympian and World Champion Runner   “Stepping on a stage and playing a part is a craft that can be honed. Opening up and sharing your true self with the world takes a courage that can’t be taught. In Full Circle, Andrea Barber pulls back the curtains and courageously shares her story in a way that’s authentic, real, and raw. She’ll always be thought of as Kimmy Gibbler, but after Full Circle she’ll forever be loved for being authentically Andrea Barber.”—Desiree Linden, Olympic athlete and winner of the 2018 Boson Marathon   "In this very funny, relatable, and refreshingly candid memoir, Andrea Barber does something brave: She gracefully shares her struggles behind her celebrity—her anxiety, her life as a single working mom, and her hard-won transformation—and in the process makes us see what's possible in our own lives. Prepare to be entertained and inspired."—Lori Gottlieb, New York Times bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed   “I love this book for so many reasons. Andrea Barber’s unflinching, candid expression of painful realities creates an authenticity that immediately connects the reader to her journey. She speaks from her heart with language that every mom, every person, can relate to. In doing so, she normalizes anxiety, depression, panic, shame, grief, therapy, and medication, and single handedly de-stigmatizes the high distress that is so often associated with new motherhood. Wonderfully written, her memoir takes us through her unique life experiences all the way to her impressive strategies for coping and building resilience. —Karen Kleiman, Founder, The Postpartum Stress Center, Author of Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts."Guess what? Celebrities are no different than other human beings! They stub their toe, they grow old, and they develop mental illnesses. Thank you, thank you Andrea for writing this delightful and highly readable journey across your descent into loss, and eventually a diagnosable common mental illness: depression with concomitant anxiety. I can relate only too strongly. I too have a Generalizing Anxiety Disorder with a history of panic and depression. These are common conditions, they are highly treatable, and I thank you for writing about them with such clarity. This book will help in the fight against stigma." —Drew Pinsky, MD Andrea Barber is best known for her role on the sitcom Full House as Kimmy Gibbler, the best friend of D.J. Tanner, which she played from 1987 to 1995. After Full House ended, Barber retired from acting and started focusing on her personal life. In the years since, she has become an advocate for mental health awareness and an avid runner. In 2016 she literally found her way back to the Tanner family home in the spinoff series Fuller House, the #1 family show on Netflix, and continued to make millions laugh as our favorite zany next door neighbor.

She grew up in front of the world on the beloved sitcom Full House, but then actress Andrea Barber abruptly left Hollywood. Why did she leave and what did she do for twenty years out of the spotlight before returning to television? This is her funny and inspiring memoir of fame, heartache, resilience—and the reboot of a lifetime . . .

When Kimmy Gibbler burst into the Tanners’ home on Full House in 1987, audiences immediately connected with the confident and quirky pre-teen character, played by ten-year-old actress Andrea Barber. During an eight-season run on one of the most popular series of the ‘80s and ‘90s, Andrea came of age in front of millions. But she was as far removed from her character as a girl can get. The introverted young star was plagued with self-doubt, insecurities, and debilitating anxieties that left her questioning her identity after the show’s cancelation. Andrea wouldn’t return to the public eye until 2016, for Fuller House. So what happened in those intervening decades that Andrea jokingly calls “the lost years”?

For starters, Andrea never stopped working. But it was on a series of life-changing transitions: earning a college degree, then a Master’s, building a career in international education, getting married, and starting a family. She also faced some unforeseeable transitions: navigating a sudden divorce after nearly twelve years of marriage, and second-guessing her capabilities as a single mother. But it was her devastating bout with post-partum anxiety and depression that derailed Andrea’s life—and became a crucial turning point.

Full Circle is a raw, refreshingly honest look into the life of a celebrity who has never been fully comfortable in the spotlight. Here Andrea shares her deeply personal struggles with mental health in a way she has never done before. She opens up about fighting her way back and finding solace—while finding herself—all before her life came full circle with her costars and lifelong friends on Fuller House. Sharing her journey from child star, to champion of mental health, and back to stardom, Andrea writes in a way that feels like catching up with an old friend.

You’ll laugh, reminisce, and finally get to know the woman behind the zany next door neighbor.

Refreshingly honest and sincere without all the Hollywood glitz, glamour and TMZ - Hallelujah! Andrea Barber struggles with a generalized anxiety disorder that went undiagnosed and untreated from her early days as a kid on the set of Full Circle. She shares her tho’ts, losses and victories in dealing with this multi-faceted disease and does it in an open and welcoming way. That might seem like a strange word to describe talking about mental illness, but the author’s intent to help others thru her experiences is quite evident and welcoming was the only descriptive word that came to mind.Besides the stories about the set of the original Full Circle and the Netflix, Fuller Circle, Barber gives the reader full access to the remainder of her life as a college student, dating, marriage, mom divorce and picking up the pieces. There’s a LOT of mom stuff; maybe too much? It’s all honest, mostly interesting and reads quickly. The writing is very conversational, sometimes to the point of becoming uneven. Another pass thru the editing process wouldn’t have been wasted. The publishing and photography are professional with no warnings needed at all.“Full Circle: From Hollywood to Real Life and Back” was clearly a labor of love for author, Andrea Barber. She shared her soul self with the hope of helping others to navigate the challenges of a life dealing with mental health issues. This book is fine example of living that life FULLY📚Loved this book! Loved this book! I never write reviews—but really enjoyed this book and Andrea’s honest take on motherhood and anxiety. It was a fun read and I applaud her courage to share this story.Absolutely AMAZING. I grew up watching Andrea Barber in full house she made me laugh and made me cry. Her story is so honest, raw, and genuine. He tells HER story the only one she know and I know I loved it and am so proud of her. ♥️

1000 Dot-to-Dot Download

ISBN: 1626860858
Title: 1000 Dot-to-Dot Pdf Animals
Author: Thomas Pavitte
Published Date: 2014-08-01
Page: 48

Thomas Pavitte, born in New Zealand, is a graphic designer and experimental artist who often uses simple techniques to create highly complex pieces, and whose dot-to-dot pieces have been enjoyed by people all over the world. He set an unofficial record for the most complex dot-to-dot drawing in 2011 with his version of the Mona Lisa, in 6,239 numbered dots, which took him weeks to prepare and nine hours to complete. He lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.

Connect the dots in these puzzles with pizzazz and watch as sophisticated, stylish portraits of twenty different animals emerge.

Beautiful animal portraits are revealed as you complete each section of dots—so intricate you’ll want to display your finished work! The twenty puzzles in this book are much more sophisticated than the one-dimensional images created in childhood. Tonal shading and expressive line work build as each numbered section is finished. Dot-to-dot puzzles have also been proven to increase short-term cognitive acuity, hand-eye coordination, and concentration skills. Whether you’re filling time on a rainy day, using the puzzles for a party game, or learning the principles of drawing, 1000 Dot-to-Dot: Animals is fun for all ages. Get your pencils ready and connect the dots!

Great for wagon rides! The title of these dot-to-dot books should give you an idea of how many dots are on a page....a lot! And of course that means the numbers are going to be very small. I appreciate some of the other reviewers stating that these can be difficult and take some time to complete, but some of the negative reviews are pretty harsh and sound like they are just written by a bunch of grumpy people with no patience. To sum it up:It's a lot of dots. The numbers are very small. It takes some time to complete. This is not a My Little Pony dot-to-dot.The finished product is amazing.Don't be turned off by the negative reviews. Good thing Amazon reviews didn't exist in the 1800s when folks were moving West, we never would have gotten past the Mississippi River: "The wagon ride is harsh and the days are long. 2 mules died and we ran out of potatoes. I wish I had stayed home in my log cabin in Virginia. I give this trip 1 star".These are fantastic, challenging dot-to-dots that are great for passing the time....especially if you're in a wagon going West.Great for keeping my 10 year old off the screen I've been trying to get my daughter to stay off screen for some time now. Nothing has worked! My 10 year old wanted this for Christmas after she saw her friend doing it. She was so happy when she saw the package. Out of all the Christmas presents that she got this year, this was the one that she spent most time with. It's not just one of those presents where kids play with it for 2 days and leave, once you do it, you will be hooked!I recommend this for any kids that loves STEM or logical thinking. It's funny, my 12 year old, after seeing her sister do it, wanted to do one too. In one sentence, I love it, she loves it, it's a win-win to me. Definitely will buy another one.PS: Below is one of my daughter's work. The Chicago Cloudgate

Elon Musk Free Pdf

ISBN: 006230125X
Title: Elon Musk Pdf Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
Author: Ashlee Vance
Published Date: 2017-01-24
Page: 400

“Mr. Vance tells the stories of both SpaceX and Tesla with intricacy and insight. . . . What does come through is a sense of legitimate wonder at what humans can accomplish when they aim high, and aim weird. (Dwight Garner, New York Times)“[T]his work will likely serve as the definitive account of a man whom so far we’ve seen mostly through caricature. By the final pages, too, any reader will sense the need to put comparisons to Steve Jobs aside. Give Musk credit. There is no one like him.” (New York Times Book Review)“[A] spirited and riveting biography.” (Wall Street Journal)“The SpaceX and Tesla founder certainly sees setbacks as an unavoidable part of innovation. But a brilliant new biography paints a picture of him as an obsessive, intolerant perfectionist.” (Financial Times)“Fascinating and superbly researched…” (The Guardian UK) Veteran technology journalist Ashlee Vance offers an unprecedented look into the remarkable life of the most daring entrepreneur of our time. Elon Musk paints a portrait of a complex man who has renewed American industry and sparked new levels of innovation—from PayPal to Tesla, SpaceX, and SolarCity—overcoming hardship, earning billions, and making plenty of enemies along the way.

New York Times and International Bestseller
Named One of the Best Books of the Year by The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Audible and Amazon

More than 1.5 million copies sold
In the spirit of Steve Jobs and Moneyball, Elon Musk is both an illuminating and authorized look at the extraordinary life of one of Silicon Valley's most exciting, unpredictable, and ambitious entrepreneurs--a real-life Tony Stark--and a fascinating exploration of the renewal of American invention and its new "makers."
Elon Musk spotlights the technology and vision of Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur and innovator behind SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity, who sold one of his Internet companies, PayPal, for $1.5 billion. Ashlee Vance captures the full spectacle and arc of the genius's life and work, from his tumultuous upbringing in South Africa and flight to the United States to his dramatic technical innovations and entrepreneurial pursuits.
Vance uses Musk's story to explore one of the pressing questions of our age: can the nation of inventors and creators who led the modern world for a century still compete in an age of fierce global competition? He argues that Musk--one of the most unusual and striking figures in American business history--is a contemporary, visionary amalgam of legendary inventors and industrialists including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, and Steve Jobs. More than any other entrepreneur today, Musk has dedicated his energies and his own vast fortune to inventing a future that is as rich and far-reaching as the visionaries of the golden age of science-fiction fantasy.
Thorough and insightful, Elon Musk brings to life a technology industry that is rapidly and dramatically changing by examining the life of one of its most powerful and influential titans.

Don't ask for permission to do something great. One of the most inspiring books I have ever read. A few life changing points for me:1) First intro chapter shows how relentless the author was. Great lesson there. He didn't ask for permission, he just went out and wrote it. Said he was going to write it with or without him on board. Which ultimately won Elon's respect since that's how he operates too.2) Elon and his brother Kimbal coming over at 18 years old from south Africa. Their tactic about picking up the newspaper and cold calling the most interesting people to take to lunch is awesome. I challenge myself to do this now and I think its a great strategy to get out of your comfort zone. I gather he had the idea for pay pal with that tactic - it landed him the bank internship where he discovered the inefficiencies of banking world.3) Elon has no "fear" button. Inhuman ability to withstand massive risks, pressure, and family drama all at once.4) I bought 20 books. That's how much I loved it. Would call up and take a "mad scientist" or business investor or tesla owner For coffee/lunch/networking and tell them about how great this book is and see what crazy ideas they had brewing as well. Started connecting them together and meeting all kinds of moonshot thinkers. Great Networking Icebreaker.5) Requested a tesla charging station be installed at my place of work because well...we need to encourage more telsas around here and If Elon stops by we will be ready.6) Googled Justine found her Ted talk she did about him And enjoyed Elons commencement speech too. 7) Started an interest in this whole solar idea, Bought a solar cell phone charger that will be a gateway into way Into it and go from there. Tours of people that have solar homes in the area.8) Most ambitious dude ever with this whole Mars thing.9) After you read this book you will never again complain about being busy.10) I didn't realize Larry Page and Elon were so close. Hope he is wrong about the AI thing though, but also triggered me to buy the book "the singularity is near"I love the impact of the cover and I write a favorite quote in and give as a gift of inspiration to innovators in the area.A deep look into a fascinating man. I've been inspired by Elon Musk for a while. His accomplishments are legendary and I wanted to know more about the men behind them. This book doesn't disappoint. We see both the amazing drive and unstoppable vision as well as the ongoing challenges Musk has had working with people who are inevitably either not as smart, but as driven or more likely, both. Few had the fortitude to stick with him and the ones that do are fiercely loyal. What I love most about Elon's story is how powerfully he deals with every obstacle thrown into his path. Literally nothing could stop him. Not looming bankruptcy or bad press or any of dozens of other issues that would have stopped most of us. I hope to find 5% of that drive in myself after reading this book.Motivational This book has made me one highly motivated aerospace engineering student and given me some great insight into what it would be like should I ever get hired at SpaceX.

The Unicorn Project Download

ISBN: 1942788762
Title: The Unicorn Project Pdf A Novel about Developers, Digital Disruption, and Thriving in the Age of Data
Author: Gene Kim
Published Date: 2019-11-19
Page: 345

“Every company going through a digital transformation needs to make this a must-read for all leaders. Not only will they recognize and empathize with the struggles of Maxine and team, they will also find insights for success with the Five Ideals. This book gives a roadmap to the type of rebellion every organization wishes for.” (Courtney Kissler, VP, Global Technology, NIKE, Inc.)“What are developers' two typical experiences? Frustration, fatigue, anxiety, and aggravation when nothing comes together like it should and projects run late, over budget, and under promise. The Unicorn Project gives an empathetic over-the-shoulder look at how a peer can escape these too familiar circumstances, and Gene Kim does a masterful job of showing how a dynamic, discovery-oriented approach to technology transformation can combine the efforts of many to create lasting business advantages for all.” (Dr. Steven Spear, author of The High-Velocity Edge, Sr. Lecturer at MIT, and principal of HVE LLC.)“The Unicorn Project is amazing, and I loved it 100 times more than The Phoenix Project….It made me remember every step we've gone through at adidas in the last 4 years.” (Fernando Cornago, Senior Director Platform Engineering, adidas)“As important as The Phoenix Project was for managing organizational change, The Unicorn Project is for the vast majority of us who actually solve problems. This book provides a vision for software engineers for generations to come.” (Dr. Tom Longstaff, Chief Technology Officer, Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute)“A bona fide digital transformation, one that makes a worthy difference in customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and cash flow, is a hard-fought victory through a gauntlet of agonizing battles. Wins, losses, and the unexpected are inevitable, and true grit―a combination of passion, courage, and perseverance―is required. The Unicorn Project is the organizational civil-war novel that every technology and business trailblazer must read.” (Christopher O'Malley, President and CEO, Compuware)“In The Phoenix Project, Gene Kim clarified the what and why of DevOps. Now his latest book, The Unicorn Project, clarifies the what and why of digital transformation. Being great at DevOps without focusing on the customer means that you can be excellent at something that doesn't matter.” (Jeffrey Snover, Technical Fellow, Microsoft)“The Unicorn Project is an inspired followup to The Phoenix Project, telling the same events from the perspective of technical contributors and digging much more deeply into key questions of team dynamics, leadership, automation, and misguided governance. Readers working in real-world IT or digital organizations will again find themselves nodding and grimacing in recognition that as an industry we have a long way to go; fortunately, Gene is continuing to light the way.” (Charles Betz, Principal Analyst and Global DevOps Lead, Forrester Research)“The Unicorn Project takes you on a fun and imaginative journey into some of the most difficult IT and business challenges we face today. The project may be mythical, but the lessons and ideals encountered will provide real help to any leader seeking to unleash powerful potential within their organization. This should be required reading for any student, IT professional, or business leader who is serious about tackling data-driven digital disruption, customer focus, and workforce empowerment to deliver business value faster, better, safer, and happier.” (Jason Cox, Director of Platform Engineering & SRE)“If you read The Phoenix Project and wondered if the author had been following you around at work, then The Unicorn Project is going to give you a sense of deja vu.” (Erica Morrison, Executive Director of Software Engineering, CSG)“What I loved about The Phoenix Project is that it made me feel not alone. Reading that story, I closely identified with the experiences the characters were having in the software development process. In The Unicorn Project, he's written another cure for the forsaken tech managerial nerd. And this time he's extended to another whole group in the world of technology―those who deal with data, analytics, reports, and predictive models. Anyone working with software or data analytics will feel a kinship to the characters and the problems the teams encounter in The Unicorn Project, and will cheer them on as they apply the Dev and DataOps best practices to succeed. It's scary how close the characters, dialog, and situations are to what we daily experience. Is Gene listening in to our beer-soaked after-work conversations? I wonder…” (Christopher Bergh, CEO & Head Chef, DataKitchen) Gene Kim is a multi-award winning CTO, researcher, and author. He is the founder of Tripwire and served as CTO for thirteen years. His books include The Phoenix Project, The DevOps Handbook, Beyond the Phoenix Project, Accelerate, The Visible Ops Handbook, and Visible Ops Security.Gene is a huge fan of IT operations and how it can enable developers to maximize throughput of features from “code complete” to “in production” without causing chaos and disruption to the IT environment. He has worked with some of the top Internet companies on improving deployment flow and increasing the rigor around IT operational processes. In 2007, ComputerWorld added Gene to the “40 Innovative IT People to Watch Under the Age of 40” list, and he was named a Computer Science Outstanding Alumnus by Purdue University for achievement and leadership in the profession. He lives in Portland, OR, with his wife and family.

With The Phoenix Project we learned about the Three Ways. Now with The Unicorn Project, Gene Kim introduces the Five Ideals.

This highly anticipated follow-up to the bestselling title
The Phoenix Project takes another look at Parts Unlimited, this time from the perspective of software development.

In
The Unicorn Project, we follow Maxine, a senior lead developer and architect, as she is exiled to the Phoenix Project, to the horror of her friends and colleagues, as punishment for contributing to a payroll outage. She tries to survive in what feels like a heartless and uncaring bureaucracy and to work within a system where no one can get anything done without endless committees, paperwork, and approvals.

One day, she is approached by a ragtag bunch of misfits who say they want to overthrow the existing order, to liberate developers, to bring joy back to technology work, and to enable the business to win in a time of digital disruption. To her surprise, she finds herself drawn ever further into this movement, eventually becoming one of the leaders of the Rebellion, which puts her in the crosshairs of some familiar and very dangerous enemies.

The Age of Software is here, and another mass extinction event looms—this is a story about rebel developers and business leaders working together, racing against time to innovate, survive, and thrive in a time of unprecedented uncertainty...and opportunity.

How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen Pdf

ISBN: B01MYT9C60
Title: How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen Pdf A Survival Guide to Life with Children Ages 2-7

A must-have resource for anyone who lives or works with young kids, with an introduction by Adele Faber, coauthor of the international best-seller The Boston Globe dubbed "The Parenting Bible".

For over 35 years, parents have turned to How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk for its respectful and effective solutions to the unending challenges of raising children. Now, in response to growing demand, Adele's daughter, Joanna Faber, along with Julie King, tailor How to Talk's powerful communication skills to children ages two to seven.

Faber and King, each a parenting expert in her own right, share their wisdom accumulated over years of conducting How To Talk workshops with parents and a broad variety of professionals. With a lively combination of storytelling, cartoons, and fly-on-the-wall discussions from their workshops, they provide concrete tools and tips that will transform your relationship with the young kids in your life.

What do you do with a little kid who...won't brush her teeth...screams in his car seat...pinches the baby...refuses to eat vegetables...runs rampant in the supermarket? Organized according to common challenges and conflicts, this book is an essential emergency first-aid manual of communication strategies, including a chapter that addresses the special needs of children with sensory processing and autism spectrum disorders.

This user-friendly guide will empower parents and caregivers to forge rewarding, joyful relationships with terrible two-year-olds, truculent three-year-olds, ferocious four-year-olds, foolhardy five-year-olds, self-centered six-year-olds, and the occasional semi-civilized seven-year-old. And, it will help little kids grow into self-reliant big kids who are cooperative and connected to their parents, teachers, siblings, and peers.

Good but not worth giving if you’ve already read the original This would be great if I hadn’t already read the normal version. I feel like it’s a waste to get this if you’ve already read how to talk so kids will listen.I do like their approaches but I don’t feel like this really helps a ton with parenting a small (under 3 years) toddler. Wish they had more examples of situations that you get into with a small toddler and how to handle them.If you could only pick one parenting book, this should be it I'm a Child Psychiatrist and this book is my #1 recommended book for parents of kids under 10. I personally used the original book with my kids (and my spouse, lol, really good communication strategies) and this one is even more refined and even more clearly laid out compared to the original which I thought couldn't be improved. Great book, thank you to the authors, you have improved the lives of so many families! Don't miss the one for teens. Are you, too, living with a tiny terrorist? I have a four year old, who was three when I read this book, and man, was it necessary. They tell you about the “terrible twos”, but then they keep the biggest secret — THREE IS EVEN WORSE. Three year olds are tiny little terrorists, and I needed all the help I could get to negotiate my way through that year. How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen gives you lots of simple techniques for communicating with your little kid, whether you’re trying to get them to do something, get them not to do something, or just get along. It is full of real world examples that the authors have culled from the classes they’ve done throughout the years, which I found really helpful. It turns out, your kid probably isn’t unique — there are plenty of others out there doing the same things they are doing. One thing I especially liked is that they summarize each chapter into bullet points at the end. Something you could easily print out and tape to your fridge for reference. So if you too are living with a tiny terrorist, give this book a shot! All you parents out there are doing a good job. Also, age four is SO MUCH BETTER.

How to Babysit a Grandma (How To...relationships) Pdf

ISBN: 0385753845
Title: How to Babysit a Grandma (How To...relationships) Pdf
Author: Jean Reagan
Published Date: 2014
Page: 32

PreS-Gr 2—In a companion to Reagan's How to Babysit a Grandpa (Knopf, 2012), a young girl heads over to her grandma's house for a sleepover babysitting session-with the child providing clear and humorous instructions to readers on how to care for a grandma. The to-do list contains many choices for Grandma to select from, including a walk to the park, reading, taking photos, playing dress-up, and adding sugary sprinkles to her meal items. The child wisely allows plenty of time for Grandma to look at the pages while reading a book, peek at the stars, and choose the best spot to sleep. Any grown-up who has calmly been the object of a child's flights of fancy will chuckle at the scenarios, as Grandma, never mugging or rolling her eyes, participates fully and patiently in all of her granddaughter's ideas. The full-color digital art is bright, and sharp-eyed children will delight in the details, including the silly antics of Grandma's dog. While this book breaks no new ground, the charm of its premise and the clear bond between the generations will have kids and grandparents giggling together.—Marge Loch-Wouters, La Crosse Public Library, WI In this companion to How to Babysit a Grandpa (2012), Reagan offers a fun, relatable story about the qualities of being a good babysitter, told from the perspective of a little girl who is spending quality time with her grandmother. From the illustrations, which resemble Polaroid snapshots of their visit together, to the many checklists that the little girl jots down, such as “How to Keep Grandma Busy” and “How to Say Good-Bye to Grandma,” the story celebrates family connections—and successful babysitting experiences. The how-to format, which Reagan highlights in the narrator’s bubbly handwriting, creates a lively framework, but it’s the bright, energetic mixed-media illustrations that convey the action and create the sense of story and character. Particularly clear in an evening scene as the girl and her grandma observe the stars in the purplish night sky, the mood of kindness, love, and togetherness comes through on every page. Grades K-3. --Annie Miller

Such a cute read My mother in law watches my daughter every day. I bought this book for her for Christmas and she laughs and thinks it so funny to hear that it’s the other way around and she’s babysitting her grandma. Super cute and funny! 🤣Don’t think twice- buy this I just bought this book for my daughter I absolutely love every single thing about this book. Jean Reagan if you’re reading this I want to Thank You for writing this beautiful yet funny book that has melted our hearts into a million trillion pieces! So Wholesome and Charming I Could Plotz This is a cheerful review because I was quite taken by this book. That's a bit surprising, because experience suggests that most grandparent books are so Hallmark/Disney/Family-Values bland or tin-eared that they read like long form greeting cards. Not so here. This book has a puckish sense of humor and a bit of parenting wisdom behind it.The twist, that the kid is babysitting the grandma, is clever and is a joke that even a younger child will get. Good start, but you still have to have a grandma and a grandchild who do real things. In this book the little jokes are telling and the interaction between grandma and child seem real and unforced. How they amuse each other and entertain and occupy themselves could be drawn from some ideal sleepover memories. From visits to the park to goofy crafts to leaving the light on for grandma at bedtime, this tale is fun, silly, and real, or at least what we wish were real. Heck, even grandma's grey hair looks good. (Although, there should probably be a section about "pretending" how hard it is to get up off the carpet.)The drawing is colorful, energetic and engaging. "Fun" is pretty hard to draw, but Lee Wildish did a great job of drawing just enough to get across the idea. The layout of the text and pictures is broken up in a way that gets across the haphazard and sort of manic nature of a sleepover. There are lots of little jokes drawn in around the edges, (the dog's reaction to stuff may be the funniest part of the book), so this really does become a "picture book" worth looking at closely. The bottom line is I'm not sure you could read this grandparent book together and not have a good time and a couple of chuckles. How nice is that?
