Travel through the insight of a cosmic pioneer As a teenager with good grades in maths and science at school, "a brief history of time" seriously rocked my brain and made me fall in love with physics in the late 80s. Currently I hold a master's degree in physics and I am now in my mid 40s. I am thankful to Prof Hawkings for once again creating this masterpiece where he has summarized his life long research into a book so easy to understand and appreciate.Set your mind free and travel through the grand cosmic time and space as Prof Hawkings reveals answers to puzzles and paradoxes set to us by our universe. Does he have THE ANSWER? Maybe not but you can't go wrong getting some insights into the mind of one of the greatest pioneer in physics of our lifetime.Sad babling of ideas between reality and pure fiction I don't know who actually wrote this book because it is a pure rambling of personal thoughts mixed with facts from all over literature and mixed with pure fiction. This book brings nothing to the reader. I know most of Hawking's previous work which was coherent but this book is completely different, hence my question mark on who actually wrote it.It seems more a last attempt to profit from Hawking's name.Highly not recommended !Errors in the book. I am a big fan of Stephen Hawking, but it seems this book was rushed through. On Page 73 looks like who ever wrote this, does not have any idea about the structure of DNA. It says the two Chains in the helix are linked by nucleic acids and further mentions that there are four types of nucleic acids- adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine; these are actually called as bases. While as the actual nucleic acids are deoxribonucleic acid (DNA) and Ribinucleic acid(RNA).Also negative 270.4 degree Centigrade is equal to negative 454.7 degree F.

Get the book! Life changing I’ve read through the first read and so much unwinding and letting go happened as I sat with the feelings that arose. Tokitsu understands Musashi's writings - and Musashi as a martial artist - unusually well and is able to provide a rare insight into the man and his historical contribution.

Wisdom for all ages I can't imagine how hard it was to translate this book into English. But this timeless in formation is outstanding and required reading along with Sun Tzu.The translator takes great pains to explain his approach to the original work The translator takes great pains to explain his approach to the original work, since there are so many other versions of this text. He spends substantial time expounding on his word choices, how they're reflective of the original 'context' but also take into account the speech & vernacular of current times. Truth be told, some further adjustments could be made utilizing more precise English vocabulary.All that said, the majority of the work is well presented and representative of the (original) author's views. There is both knowledge and wisdom contained in the work, much of it befitting Musashi's reputation, capabilities and personality. Other areas where 'extra' text from different copies and different works of his with similar (albeit earlier and/or less refined in focus) information, can become tedious to follow due to the author's choice of organizational format. The chosen format divides & essentially delivers it like it were being cataloged... not a format 'fit-for-consumption'.I still readily recommend this version.of the people, for the people... lots of translation out there of Musashi's 5 rings, some less accessible than others...if your a budoka then this one is in the top 3....translated by an a native speaker and Musashi scholar who is also a practicing martial artist...insightful and fills in a lot of contextual 'gaps'....destined to become a classic...get Tokitsu's "Miyamoto Musashi: His Life and Writings" too...benchmark stuff...arigato sensei!

Careful for what you ask for. Wow, this is quite the journey of Jude and Summer. Summer's husband Seth tells her he wants a 6-month break from their marriage and she decides to go to Jersey for the six months because her aunt has a cottage there. She doesn't understand the reason why her husband all of a sudden wants a break but stays positive. They agree not to contact each other for the six months. After arriving in Jersey she discovers she took the wrong suitcase at the airport. Jude, who has just learned he has a brain tumor and was given a year to live also had the wrong suitcase. His friend was a reporter and she reported on the story and Summer say it on the news. The two get together to exchange suitcases but discover an instant attraction to each other. Jude was looking for a place to stay by the sea and Summer invited him to live with her.They start working on Jude's bucket list. The book shares their adventures, the things they learn and the ups and downs, and twist and turns of their lives. This is the first book I have read by this author but I am going to check out her other books because I enjoyed this one so much. Knowing this one was Christmas by the Lighthouse, I hoped that things would work out for Summer and Jude and there would be a miracle. But I am not saying if it happened because this book is a wonderful book to read and I want you to enjoy it as much as I did. I think telling you if it happened or not would take away from the experience of reading it yourself. so grab the book and enjoy the reading. Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC.Entertaining read, despite wounded hero's serious issues - Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review -A quick, entertaining read, despite featuring a wounded hero with very serious issues, “Christmas at the Lighthouse” balances between a light, humorous tone, helped by a nurturing, optimistic heroine and the Jersey Island getaway setting, and darker, more dramatic tones, due to said looming ticking clock.Perhaps Jude’s earlier indifference felt a bit odd, but I liked watching him shake the monotony of a “beige existence” and easily fall for Summer, the right heroine, at the right place and time.There were a lot of secondary characters strategically making the romantic couple’s life so much easier, and their HEA includes not a miracle cure but a credible treatment, even if some questions remain kindly unaddressed.Intense, emotional, satisfying CHRISTMAS BY THE LIGHTHOUSE is a story that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride from devastation to utter joy, and everything in-between as well. The basics of the story can be found in the Cover Description, yet although that will tempt you, and have you picking up this book what you don’t find there are the emotions, the strength of two people who have had their worlds tilted and now need to re-think, readjust to a far different reality than they once knew.Because I do not want to give much away I will say that I found myself asking questions throughout the reading of Summer’s and Jude’s story. “What would I do?” “How would I react?” “Can it be possible to find true happiness in the middle of heartache?” You will think throughout CHRISTMAS BY THE LIGHTHOUSE and will come up with your own unique reactions as to what you would do in similar circumstances.The story itself is endearing, if at times heartbreaking. The writing flowed for me and I easily found myself in a world that has drastically changed without my consent. I liked Summer and Jude both as a couple and individually. Of course, there are bumps in the road but they handled those things in a realistic way. I adored a pup that no one seems to want except for this couple, and finding that forever home for human and canine is the absolute best feeling possible. There is a solution that was believable for me, and that “believable” is important in my acceptance of what these two people are facing individually and as a couple. I enjoyed myself in this world and would not hesitate to recommend CHRISTMAS BY THE LIGHTHOUSE as a Christmas Romance or a story that could be relevant at any time of the year.*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
